Hillsboro continues to lead District 3, despite losing a 5-game match to Hatton-Northwood Tuesday night on the Burros’ home court.
The Burros, coached by Jamie Rerick have a 6-1 district record. They’re 19-12 overall. In the all-important points standings, the Burros are 12-2.
Hillsboro plays at West Fargo Monday and at Fargo Oak Grove the following week (Oct. 22).
The District 3 volleyball tournament in Hillsboro starts Thursday, Oct. 25.
The Burros defeated Dakota Prairie 3-0 last Thursday in Hillsboro.
Scores in Tuesday’s exciting match with the Thunder from Hatton-Northwood were 22-25, 25-22, 25-10, 19-25 and 14-16.
The loss to the H-N Thunder shouldn’t come as a surprise, Rerick intimated.
“Hatton-Northwood and Dakota Prairie are very respectable teams. Every team in the district is respectable.”
Rerick insists District 3 is the toughest conference in the state.
It’s anybody’s game the rest of the way, she insists.
“It all depends on who’s having an on or off night.” Much will depend on which teams make the fewest errors, added Rerick.
Ashley Doeden had 14 kills against the Thunder. Mikkaela Toenies added 12 kills. Joelle Evenson was credited with 16 assists against Hatton-Northwood. Brittany Wilson had an impressive 39 digs Tuesday night.
Hillsboro beat Dakota Prairie 25-22, 25-20 and 25-17.
