Hillsboro’s boys basketball team was reminded last week how intensity can win and lose games.
At home against Thompson last Thursday (Jan. 3), the Burros lost a “big district game,” said coach Elliot Rotvold, “because we did not have the intensity we needed to play four quarters.”
As a result, Thompson “took advantage and won,” Rotvold explained. (more…)

The Hillsboro girls basketball team is on a roll.
The Burros won their third and fourth straight wins this week with victories over Northern Cass and Moorhead Park Christian.
“It is a nice winning streak,” said coach Kyle Morehart. “The girls are playing with a lot of confidence.”
The 8-2 Burros were at Central Valley last night. Hatton-Northwood is here tomorrow (Saturday). (more…)

Bonus points.
Hillsboro’s wrestlers cashed in their bonus points at the Central Cass Lettermen’s Tournament last weekend and earned a 4th place team finish in the 20-team event.
“Overall our team score a lot of bonus points with pins, tech fall and major decisions. That impressed me. Without those bonus points, we may have ended up 10th instead of 4th,” noted coach Eric Ptacek. “Great effort from all the boys.” (more…)
